Gib - as mentioned on TS, here is an online article I did on making your own mounted game pieces. This is for a WWII platoon-level series called Panzer Grenadier, probably my favorite wargame system.

we played the original panzer general as kids on the basement floor, with the little cardboard squares on the hex board. awesome.

Do you maybe mean Panzer Blitz? I still get goose bumps seeing thios cover. At the time it seemed so awesome!
