Video Card Failure

Post by [JiF] General WarHawk »

I have a Midtower that sits on my desk next to me. I have to swap the SATA cable to the 2 hard drives, 1 because I've been too lazy to order another one, and 2 because if I want to default to the WINXP64 I have to remove the cable to the WIN7 drive.

So anyways the fat kitty kept trying to get up there each night, and sure enough one night I didn't stop him, and he knocked the case over. Because the door on the side is open, I was able to catch the computer before it fell to the floor, but the hard drive fell out, leading to a system crash.

The odd thing is....my Video Card went. I had an XFX Radeon HD 4870. Granted it was running noisily before, but after the computer got knocked off the desk IT didn't show a screen, whereas the hard drive which was running still works.

Is there anything I can do to fix this thing??? I'm running an older Radeon HD 3870, right now.
I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to, I guess.

Did you try re-inserting the card? If the case got bumped around enough it may have just come a little loose in the socket.

No, I'm not sure I did. I swapped out the card for the one I have now. I don't know why I didn't think to do that.
