Custom Map Nights

Post by [JiF] General WarHawk »

I was wondering if there was interest in having custom map day/nights around here again for Battlefield 1942?

We have all these maps and I don't see that many people playing, but I'd like to see if there is support to boost the quality of the maps as the other servers have a better dynamic of game play, and also if we have anyone interested in playing Custom Map night.

I would like to see if we could go back to Battlegroup42 for a night.

Before we can do that , we would need to ask Mike to upgrade the server to the latest version

Gonna have to upgrade something.

I tried to get some of the maps to work, and also to load EOD one night, since i can't find an EOD server, and it kept kicking me out. I still get kicked randomly now and then, and even sometimes jumped into other servers, some of which aren't even listed on the server list for battlefield.

You might have to PM Mike. He might not read this thread for a while. I don't see him online this AM, but if I do I'll let him know.

After reading this (thanks Tissue) I checked our server hosts page and see they have released a patch that will make our server compatible with the free version of the game now available. This was not the case a little while ago, and the last I read they had no intention of doing this! So this is a nice change!

What else needs to be done? I may install the free version now. :) I had no interest if I couldn't play on our server!

Mike:

Please upgrade (or give me instructions how-to) the server versions of BG42 and EOD, so we can schedule some times to load those up.

Thanks

The files must be manually uploaded via ftp to the server. It's a real pain with BG42! I wanted to check what version of BG42 we had, but FTP is not responding, so I submitted a ticket. When I hear back I will look at what needs to be done. Hopefully I can just upload the patch instead of everything again. :roll:

Based on my last client downloads:
BG42 = v1.7
EoD = v2.4

Now that the server is open to Free players, many of whom might be new:

Please keep a watch out for language, behavior, and hacking as Punkbuster is turned OFF

If you observe any player issues and are not an admin, PM me.
I am usually in front of a computer and can take immediate action.

BG42 is now at v1.8
EOD is at 2.51

I have v2.51 of EOD on the server now. I am still working on BG42.

I have read a few comments from others that leads me to believe that these mods will work using the free version. They simply need to be installed. Perhaps if we can attract some new players with vanilla we can get them to install these mods too.

here are the client download links:

http://www.battlegroup42.de/Downloads-B ... ory-1.html
http://www.moddb.com/mods/eve-of-destruction1/downloads

Let's give everybody a week or so to download, then I'll be glad to manage scheduling "Mod Days/Nights" based on recommendations.

I have not had the chance to enjoy BG42 yet, so I am looking forward to playing it, since it was a nearly 4GB file.

Nice to see there is interest though.

Mike updated both, so yes that is possible based on demand.

The new client downloads are huge!
