I found an article about this project for a charging station and had to check it out. Apple originally denied them a license for the new Lightning connector, so they were going to cancel the project. There was such outcry about it being canceled that Apple changed it's rules and it's back on! The initial funding period has ended but if you head to the projects own site you can still pre-order and get the discount.
