An interesting article on Hacking

I just read this and thought it was quite interesting - don't have a great deal of sympathy for the guy though...

Ya, I never thought I would either...So I do have empathy for the poor guy. Not sympathy, but empathy, there's a difference ;)

It's like the Devil tempting constantly. Eventually you roll a 1 and fail a resist frustration roll and buy the hacks. The Devil being other 4-5 M-F's hacking PER SERVER and ruining your fun.

It's kinda like trying crack - I suppose. I've heard the first hit is an incredible feeling. Then your life disinigrates.

Soo, If anyone every feels like they are going to succumb out of frustration like I did please talk to me and I will talk you down so you don't make the same mistake.

I see where you are coming from Gib, I too can empathise - but he seems like a bit of a douche TBH - especially when he went out of his way to hack against his clan
I preferred the comments underneath, especially ffom the guy who used to hack on Unreal Tournament with his mates on a closed server and one day went to a public server with his hack still running and got banned - now him, I do have sympathy for.

Could they have mentioned he was from Canada one more time? Since when did we care about winning? Hey, I played hockey like every REAL Canadian ever born and sure I occasionally put an opponent in the hospital - but I did so within the rules of the game and accepted my two minute penalty with grace (if you intentionally injure someone they make it five minutes - but go ahead and try to prove intent). Later, in the spirit of sportsmanship, I'd sit around the hospital and joke about it with my fallen opponent, just like civilized people (until this one time I made a guy laugh up his breathing tube, then the hospital disallowed my visits until after the guy was out of intensive care. They also banned beer from the ICU - damn socialist doctors). So, as a Canadian I may be willing to permanently disable, disfigure or even decapitate opponents for a chance to score. ( disable, disfigure, decapitate: the three Ds of Hockey - I learned them in per-school, Dad was so proud) But cheat! that's unethical.

Maybe he was actually from Liberia, Luxembourg or Sweden or someplace like that and was just wearing a Canadian flag to make it easier to hack in Europe.

I'm going to Canadia in August - now I'm not sure if I want to, I sure won't speak to any of the natives in case they hospitalise me in the spirit of international friendship

Get the impression Canada is full of cheating farmers? I always had a feeling about Canadian farmers. Did you know that with a good word processor you can arrange and stack the letters in Canadian and it spells cheater? Ya, you can and did you know if you play the third chorus of Yellow Submarine backwards you can hear John saying "Canadians are cheaters". Oh, Oh, check out Revelations! On one page all the letters are there to spell Canadian Cheaters are one with the devil.

Nothing you can do about it though. It's preordained, but at least now you know. Knowledge is power.

Grimp: I do not know much about this “Revealing Book” you mentioned but I have googled the pictures. Thank you. As to the idea that God thinks we are cheaters. Are you implying that he did not give us his country but we tricked him out of it? Cool.

It is true that I sometimes use a “prayer bot” to insure my requests get to the head of the holy queue, but that is not cheating, that is time management! Ask any Harvard graduate (or the bloke who took the test for him).

Yea verily, I wouldst not hacketh the lord least he smiteth me with his Koho! and bid St. Peter to stack the pads in front of the pearly gates…eth. Eh-men, eh?

Zouga: Fear not, for this is Canada! You can spot our “gangs,” (or as we call them “House Leagues”) by their colourful “hockey sweaters” (typically made of tough synthetic materials like polyester, to help take away moisture and keep the wearer dry). Our “players”, as they like to call themselves, do not carry knives or guns (like some of other countries “gangs”) but wooden (or carbine fiber) sticks with long curved blades on the end. Like the scythe carried by the grim reaper - only deadlier. If a “team” approaches you: do not show fear, stare them down, whistle as loud as you can and yell “offside!” They will glare at you and maybe taunt you with calls like. “What game are you watching?” and “That’s what your sister said… the first time.” You may be tempted to give the traditional reply “I don’t have a sister… maybe you are referring to my schnauzer?” but unless you are prepared to buy the opposing team a round of poutine and spend an hour trying to describe what a “schnauzer” is and why you shouldn't date one, you may wish to restrict your retort to “You let my sister talk! What are you nuts!?”
If neither of these things work “jersey” the guy and run like hell.

Zouga,

Canucks our are North American neighbors to the North. They invented Poutine which is an alternate to US Chili Cheese Fries -- a dish of French Fries covered in Chili and Cheese often topped with various hot sauces used to prove one's superiority in the manly skills. The hotter the sauce the better one is at fighting, the sexual arts of pleasing women and drinking. It is much like rams butting heads or gorillas beating their chests.

Poutine on the other hand is French Fries covered in cheese curds and gravy demonstrating that Canucks are more interested in making French Fries taste much better versus using them as a social status indicator. I know a little bit about Canucks as my wife and I both have ancestors who moved from Canada to the US in the 1900's. Granted they were French speaking Quebecois who only moved to the US in an attempt to change the language of the New England States from English to French. For instance, my wife's first language was French. She was not allowed to speak English in the household because if she did she would 'marry an Irishman'. My Irish ancestors moved here in the late 1800's because they heard that the price of Whiskey and Beer was lower in the US (according to family rumor).

My wife and I will be going to Kapuskasing, Ontario in July to visit some of her cousins. Kapuskasing is an Native American word meaning "I guess someone needs to live in the middle of nowhere". We've heard the ride up is 'scenic' meaning if you see a gas station or a place to eat you better stop and fill up with petrol and poutine and make a pit stop. There is a French speaking enclave there so I'll be using my best French when spoken to: "Ma marie parle Francais. Je parle un peu." Which means 'My husband speaks French. I speak a little". They look at my wife and I with sad eyes and speak French to my wife. I never really know what they are saying, but I'm sure it's how did you end up with this English speaking loser.

I guess this has nothing to do with 'hacking' so let me get back on track by saying 'hacking bad' or as I would say in French "hackeeng pas bon, je voudrais un plate de poutive s'il vous plait. Oh, et donne moi le sauce de chaud."

Again I am forced to Google. Translation: "hackeeng not good, I want a flat poutive please. Oh, and gives me the hot sauce."
I think it means Tissueman has a smokers cough (didn't think he smoked), he wants a small breasted woman that gives him firery flatulence.

"Kapuskasing, Ontario"? Now that's out of the way. On my map Kapuskasing is next to "beyond here there be dragons." Will you be there in time for the "Lumberjack Heritage Festival des bûcherons."? This year they are having a concert featuring April Wine and Trooper. Not that these guys are old but I hear that special wheelchair ramps are being installed on the stage to let the band members move around under there own power. A vast improvement on having the local mortician pose them before each song.

Of course its real fame lies in the fact that it is the "largest community located directly along Highway 11 between Thunder Bay and Temiskaming Shores" (this is a quote from the official tourist guide). Wow, now that's the kind of stuff legends are built on. In WWI the Canadian government built an interment camp there for "enemy aliens residing within the country." They didn't need fences, or guards - the town was considered a natural prison. Like Alcatraz or Hades. The towns' tourism moto is "The Four Season Destination." They just don't tell the tourists that three of the seasons are winter and the forth one is "Black Fly Season."

Drive safe. Don't ignore the signs telling you to roll up the windows to discourage polar bear attacks. Note: discourage - not prevent - discourage.
