I've always dreamed of being a game programmer and now with this...this incredible tool called Unity 3d http://unity3d.com/ it may start allowing me to explore that possibility.
Daterminatah and I were chatting and we both downloaded it and if any of you are interested in learning with us reply here so we can share how too's and code. I've programmed in XNA from Microsoft via C# and got a very primitive project done that does terrain editing but this tool apparently has done all the hard work and is a gui creation tool for editing game scenese(maps/worlds for example) and then you use javascript to create your code and can call their objects/classes etc.
Any programmers out there interested in a simple protoype. Nothing grand just want to see if there's any kind of interest in collaboration on a SIMPLE game. Nothing delusional.
Any 3d modelers ut there want to join in?
Just an FYI, games are rated and you usually hear them as A, AA, or AAA rated. The tools like Unreal Source Engine or other engines out there are only available if your an actual game making company and they charge $100,000 or more for 1 license which allows you to make 1 game. The folks at Unity 3D have now offered a free Indie license(some shaders disabled) to allow folks to get into game development o rat least try it out to see if its something for you or not . The licensing is then 1500 for a pro dev licence and then if you actually make a game and go to market they charge 30,000 for it or something like that.
I've always tinkered around with making an old school type of wargame or even a siimple RPG(simple key word) so this is a first i've heard of somehting like this that has all the hard parts done for you in a nice easy to use gui and scripting engine. Theres others like Torque that I tried that just don't do it like this(from what I've seen so far!)

Gib,
I would be interested in helping out but do not have a great deal of time to commit, I did some modding for BF using BC42 and made a few maps, also In my web travels I have come across some 3D object sites that are license free (for some things) which may be of use to you. I will try to dig these out of whichever Favourites folder they are buried in.
