Internet Explorer 9 anyone?

Post by [JiF]Lt Gav »

Anyone else tried out the new IE9 yet.
I downloaded the beta last week as I was interested to see if it made a difference in speed.
So far so good, websites seem to be loading much quicker especially those graphics rich sites :D !

yes I tested it last friday.

To me, Microsoft took all ideas from others browsers and gather them together in IE9. it's quicker because it should download all in background like Opera does. In addition IE9 uses now the CPu of your video card (the new implementation with DirectX) which gives a little boost when displaying pictures.

Inotice that the PDF reader is not directly implemented in IE9 as you can find it in Office.
The 'all browser compatibility mode' includes only IE6-8 and not FF, Chrome, Safari or IE mobile as I dreamed initially. :)

you also need Vista, win2008 or Win7 to install it.

In brief, it works well, but nothing really new, except for new gadgets.

I still prefer the version 6 :)

^^ what Cesar and Fab say... the alternatives are - slightly - faster and IE8/9 are only copying what Firefox, Opera and Chrome already established. Considering that many ITW exploits are rather aimed at the widespread IE community than on less common browsers there isn´t really a good reason to opt for IE. Well, unless you depend on a browser that supports ActiveX or its a company standard you have to use ~

I lately switched to a alternative Chrome based browser as my secondary and I am pretty pleased with it :hug:

http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

SRware got rid of all the spying features google implemented but the app is still compatible to all plugins and themes written for Chrome. I have been testing it thoroughly and so far it is stable and fast :pada: if someone is looking for a new browser *recommendable

Glad you like it :D It is a good piece of software...

A few things you might need:

An Adblock list to get rid of the Advertisement:
http://www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/iron/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(just overwrite the adblock.ini file in install dir)

A flashblock and pop-up blocker:
http://www.chrome-plugins.info/en/309/flashblock/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://sourceforge.net/projects/antiads/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And when you are looking for a little bliss:
http://www.chrome-plugins.info/en/276/smooth-gestures/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.chrome-plugins.info/en/328/speed-dial/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(both make life easier ;) )

cheers

New version of Iron is available:

http://www.srware.net/en/software_srwar ... wnload.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

From the release notes:

"Mainly this release contains bug- and security patches, but there is also GPU - supported rendering included (beta). You can activate this over the startmenu or with --enable-accelerated-compositing."

Also adding "--enable-aero-peek-tabs" to your shortcut finally activates Aero peak under Win7.
