I made a template. Its not great and I am not finished yet. Still need to decide what I want in the empty space.

I basically just hacked at someone else's. Just put the zip file (do not extract it) in this folder \Program Files\2142 Sig Generator\templates.
It will show up as a choice the next time you run the Sig Generator.

So do they automatically update or do you have to keep renewing your sig?

No, you have to update it after you play. Once you setup the defaults and ftp under options you can update it with 2 button clicks.

Ya, the one I am using today. Has the number of times you got an award.
Funny I am at 12708 of 12700 to my next rank. I know I am not a great at math, but I think 12708 > 12700. Hmmmm... EA issue.
Maybe the next time I log in I will get my rank up.

Grimp, next time you log on you will get your promotion.

Any time you feel you have the points for the next rank. After completing a round. Just back out to the profiles (the list of names you use) select the ranked profile. Log into game and kill some one, and get your promotion after the first kill. Has something do with how info is sent back and forth with the BFHQ. Log in and out, back in updates the info right away...usually.
