Gav, you will want to talk to Mike (Grimp is on extended vacation) about this for more details that are specific to our server configuration. I'd also suggest starting it as a thread on the admin side so others can see it, and to keep it private. :)

Yes, the screen shots are stored on the server. If you need to look at one for now post the time and date it was taken and I can make it available in the admins section.

Is there a way to capture your own screenshot while you are playing?
I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

Print screen does a local screen cap I believe and dumps it somewhere in your bf folder. Either that or one of the f keys (f12?).

I use a 3rd party app XFire to capture video or stills.

This is more why I was asking about screen captures. I've seen other people post them & wondered where they came from. Now I know how to capture those 'special moments' in the game.
Thanks for that. I will try it later.

the path for your screenshots folder is
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\ScreenShots
if you used the standard install, Print Screen key will take a pic, but you can change this in the settings tab

i have a question tho...
how do i post an image here in the forum from my comp.
I can upload a pic thats hosted online but haven't figured out how to put up my screenshots from C:\ drive

I use FRAPS from http://www.fraps.com/. If your pc is powerful enough can take nice video's easily. Screen shots are easy too and saves them in either bmp or jpg format. I think BF saves in tif, pcx or some other silly format.

To post a screen shot the picture must be hosted on a web server somewhere. Then you put the link to the photo in the image tags -

Code: Select all

[img][/img]
for example:

the code for the above picture is:

Code: Select all

There's more info in the FAQ under BB codes I think. The hardest part is finding a host to put your screen shots on.

You can upload pictures from your computer by using the "Upload Attachement" tab located just below the message screen.

Click on the Tab, browse to your selected picture and then add the file.

After it is uploaded, you can then add comments to the picture.

If you want to place it between some text you have written, you can type your message, hit the place inline button,
and then type some more.

For example, see below, I'll do the message, place inline, and show the code for it underneath the inserted picture from my hard drive.

Thanks Mike, I will try to download and use this when I get a chance, probably better than converting the BF file to *.jpg.

Xfire works great too, it also provides chat and several of us use it (corny myself and a few others.)

for the hosting I use putfile.com or photobucket.com
