RANDOM TECH QUESTION OF THE DAY 2

Post by [JiF][AARP]Tissueman »

I get a warning when I start up my PC that the battery voltage is low. How big a deal is replacing the battery? I looked in the manual and I copied all the System Info. and will follow the directions. I just want to know if this is simple or complex.

Very easy.

Open case.

On mother board, usually staring right at you, is the battery.

Looks like a big flat watch battery.

Just be a little careful "prying it out". Dont want to damage the contacts.

I actually have a few spares here in fridge. Probably would fit yours (brand new ones in package).

Too bad you dont work anymore to pick it up... ;)

It's only hard if it does not work. Should be pretty easy.

Thanks! If it is shiny I'll spot it right away.

Make sure you have the replacement before you pull the old one!
You want to do a quick swap or you will loose the bios settings.

or you may lose something other that your BIOS!!! ;)

Mission accomplished wearing sweat pants and a T-shirt. When I started it up it decided it couldn't find a floppy disk. This is not unexpected as there is not floppy disk. I had to go into setup and fix that. While I was in there I changed the LED light on the front of my case from sapphire to emerald. I'll evaluate the fix the next few boots and see if this fixed the problem. I did have to remove my vid card to access the battery, but that was within my capabilities.

I really need to get my son to move closer.

Cool choice of lighting!!

With my new NASA control center, it comes with software called Quickset.

My front, rear, and internal (glass see-thru side panel) all are on emerald.

I'm now color coordinated - matches my router, modem, and Cable box emerald light colors... ;)
