It has been my experience that if I take the specs of any high-end Dell PC to a local builder they can match it part for part (same mobo, video card, HD, DVD, Case type ...etc.)for about 20% less. If you haven't already ordered it you should at least take the specs to a local builder and see if the same is true down there.

edit: P.S. It is one hot looking machine!

Good point.

Couple counter comments.

I get a 12% discount with Dell through P&G so that basically washes out the difference.

Plus, I really like the liquid cooled "turbo charger" on it.... ;)

So's my forehead but I don't let Waterboy play with it.

Waterboy, a builder I used to work with gives an automatic 20% off any system he builds based on matching any high-end Dell. He matches the Dell part-for-part and likes to brag that it still is his highest margin product despite the 20% off. I've seen him match a $6500 Dell (only the PS and Case were a different make) for less the $4000. No one can price match a low end Dell but at the higher end it's not even a challenge.

The point is it's worth looking into.

With that system think of all the money you'll save this winter in heating costs too!
All the heat that thing produces...you'll save another.... what?....45%.....

BTW--Tried the Crysis demo and WOW!
I'm thinking all games after Crysis will have to beat the new high quality standard set by
this game!

I have my own, shiny forehead (along with the rest of it!!!!)...

good point. does he have a website/contact info?

reason why I was so "hung up" on the system by Dell is the actual liquid cool technology they have. I know there are "other similar systems" to do the cooling - I just really like theirs!!! dont think anyone can replicate that specific component.

I was thinking of building my own, until I came to the conclusion that, that particular component I did not want to mess with!!
plus, at least its easy to deal with Dell if needed later...they've been relatively good if problems arise.

LT

ps. doh!!! I ran the systems requirement lab scan (thanks, Tissue!!) on my computer...its official...I AM screwed with any new games out or coming out, so its a given - a new system (whichever that is!) will be purchased....

Don't get me wrong Assassin's Creed is visually stunning, and at first is very fun, but the thing about Assassin's Creed is you do the same exact thing for around 25 hours. After a few hours into it I found myself having very little motivation to continue playing the game, and was pretty much bored of the game. It is a game that I would recommend checking out, but not a game that I personally enjoyed.
I'm working on solving the gas crisis.
