My hurricane fighter plane

Post by [JiF]War Trophy »

Was on holiday last week in England and while on a drive, we came across these two magnificent machines, mounted as a war memorial at Biggin Hill Airfield, which was home to a number of combat squadrons during the Battle of Britain and WW2:

I travelled from Holland to England on the super ferry Stena Hollandica, the largest of it's kind in the world. It was like being on a luxury cruiser for 8 hours, the boat is absolutely stunning. Highly recommend it for a trip between the UK and Europe:

Some of you may recognize this building. Pink Floyd used it on their album cover for the LP "Animals". Took this picture of the Battersea power station, from a train while travelling to London:

I saw those planes many moons ago WT when I went down to Biggin Hill to sit the RAF apptitude tests for aircrew, and they still look as awsome now as they did then. A fitting tribute to all those brave pilots that preserved our freedom during WW2.

Nice pics WT.
Battersea was decommisioned years ago but the building is so iconic that they have left it standing.
I saw a Hurricane fly over just the other day when I was down the cricket ground. Reminded me of the time when they had a big do in the park of the stately home next door & I rushed out of the shower in just a towel as they had a Spitfire doing an air display, female pilot put on a good show.
