Berlin CTF or Stalingrad CTF

Post by Lonewolf-McQuade »

Have we abandoned the effort to make a Berlin CTF with only guns (No tanks, expacks, nades, or rpgs) since the server difficulty before? Some people don't like modded maps, however with the integrity of this server people can trust that the changes are fairly distributed. I think that would be a fun map so long as the CTF time is reduced to a quick match no more than 15 mins. Stalingrad CTF would be good as well, again I think that it should be guns only and on a short timer. I've been lobbying for this off and on, but if it isn't doable then that's how it goes. Just curious to open up a discussion about it.

Sounds good as I hate the 45 minute timer on regular CTF's

With a modded map, do all players have to download it, or is it server based?

I would love to see either of these maps
I can't mod maps on my machine - hardware issue :( :(
you can definitely get server side maps that you don't have to distribute
i've played on a server that has Berlin with no nades or armour - i'll try to find it and get in touch with their admin,
see if i can DL a copy or sth.

also you could limit CTF by making it a best of three or five,

is it possible that you could mix up the rotation a little, bring back Gothic Line, ATM all the maps are grouped, Islands-RTR-SW-Desert, it gets a bit tedious.
not complaining, still enjoy playing regardless

Sounds like a bit of fun to me!
Sometimes the Berlin CTF gets out of hand when someone is continually expacking the flag! As soon as you pick it boom! I guess that could be where team work comes in 1 suicide jockey followed by others once expacks detonated, but most of the time it's a mad rush & a long drawn out 1 at that.
The Telemark game is much better as there is a number of ways to come at the flag.
Pure guns would make for more of a team work based game as lone players would get picked off too easily.

I say we should limit CTF maps to 17 minutes or 6 flags whichever comes first. 8)

We have a rule on our server 'No expacking the flag on CTF' period. No second warning, the culprits are swiftly kicked. It makes for a more pleasant experience. If you want to try a real wacky CTF map when you have a full (or almost) server, try Monte Santo Cristo in RTR, it's blast, as the flag are nearly side to side !

Was it Buick that was trying the mods last time or was it grimps or tissue? As for rules it seems like the fewer we have the better! It's enough to have to police the language, TKs, and disruptiveness. But I do see your point. That's why I'm strongly in favor of doing a CTF with limited time 15 mins or less with no nades, RPGs, Tanks or Expacks. Can any of the senior guys do this? Do you have time and the interest?

Im up for CTF on any map. I was wondering what happened to CTF. Havent played that in a while. Oh and Sir i totally agree on no expacking the flag. When i did play CTF it was impossible to capture from the mountain of packs on the ground. Unless u find the guy planting them. GOOD RULE!!!

Ya I modded it, but it the server would not start when I put modded map on it. It was a server side mod only. Seemed to run okay on my PC, but for what ever reason it would not run on the server. I went off and got distracted by other things and did not continue to try and figure it out :D

I put on a server side modded berlin map. Seems to have no tanks on conquest, but has tanks on CTF.
I have not tried it on coop. Its a start :D I will try to get back and look at it again.

hi guys,
Ive found this on a site,
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/ ... iles;36177
it claims to remove the armour, apcs and fixed guns from the berlin map,
Its server side so no need to distribute,
however don't know if it works on CTF, or indeed if it works at all...
hope it helps

Had to run out just after I installed the altered Berlin and did not have time to explain what I did. On CTF I removed the tanks and armored car.
I left all the mounted machine guns and ammo boxes. On the other map types it should still have all the standard stuff.

I forgot to mention Berlin CTF is/was not in the rotation. An admin will have to load it up if you want to try it.
