Alien swarm has been released for free on steam. it is using the source code base and it looks kind of kewl. it appears to be a 4 person co-op game. downloading it now and will give it a whirl a little later....but hey...it's free....

I tried to download last night but Steam was too jammed up. I'll try again tonight.

I downloaded it and it looks like fun but,i'm so used to FPS games it's hard to get the hang of it.
I spent a lot of time going around in circles.

Jimbo, Doc, and I have it too. Might be a fun COOP.

I tried it some days ago and really like it. You normally find enough games to join in the evening, so you don't need to bring your own 3 friends every time. Rounds are also pretty short so you can quickly play a few times between other things. In case you do play with people you know, better use TS it helps a lot. Ingame voice chat is also possible, but rarely used and seems to have a poor quality. So if you enjoy slaugthering all kinds of alien beasts for no deeper reason using tons of diferent equipment in a nice environment and get a bit tactical with friends - Alien Swarm is your game.
