I tweaked the actual BF42 application settings on the right click / properties.
On the Compatability tab make sure you're running on XP SP3 compatability mode & running as Administrator.

Last night the 1st map I tried to play crashed to desktop.
I realised I was using a new shortcut in my Raser game booster.
When I checked it was using the original game app which I had not tweaked. So I changed the comparability to XP SP3 and had no problems for he next 4 hours.

Nah Windows 7 handles BF42 just fine most of the time. I've run it on 2 W7 machines now & occasionally get the crash to desktop, but most of the time it runs just fine. I did notice last time that it crashed after a load of vanilla maps then when it came to a RTR the crash occurred. Just coincid...
