Re: HD DVD or Blu-Ray?
Beta was better than VHS, but it still lost. Wait and see... WordPerfect was better than Word. Netscape was better than Internet Explorer. Moral of the story - when in doubt, bet on Microsoft regardless of the quality of the product. So if I had to, I'd bet on HD-DVD. But I'm not going to bet. I wo...

Re: Super geek symbol, but sooooo cool!
The users of my network would be rather upset if they had to carry a little device around with them, and look at it every time they wanted to login. I get the feeling it would frustrate the users more than it would increase security. Yeah, it's annoying. Some people put in on their keychains. I stu...

I had RSA thingies at my last two jobs. This looks like the same thing in different packaging.

One situation where I always wear heavy armor is on the Titan, attacking or defending.

Is there a speed difference? I'm not actually sure about that. What's important to me is the greatly increased sprint time. You can sprint a lot longer before you tire out.

Re: does anyone work for raytheon or lockheed?
Interesting what you say about how we can't just move the troops out overnight. Cause Hillary Clinton (and I'm no fan of hers by the way) just got into a fight with the Defense Dept when she asked if they had contingency plans for withdrawing from Iraq. They told her that she was reinforcing enemy p...

Re: Heavy vs. Light Armor
Interesting - my approach is completely the opposite. I use light armor as recon, because I like to be more mobile. I figure that with my Lambert, I'm not likely to win a close range stand up fight anyway, so the heavy armor isn't helping me. I like to be able to dart around and drop APM's in key pl...

Re: Official Meerkat Manor Thread
I earned brownie points with my in-laws, thanks to this show and more specifically this thread. I watched it a few times after reading about it here, then told my wife about it. She loved it and told her parents about it, and now they love it too. I'm pretty sure that when she told them she heard ab...

If those signs used an 8-bit signed integer for temperature, they wouldn't have that problem.

If I remember correctly, the actual cortisone shot is a mix of cortisone and lidocaine, so it numbs you initially. Otherwise my doctor told me the shot would be extremely painful.

Re: Year Zero
Does NIN know something we don't!? Not really. It's a pretty reasonable projection of the near-term future if things continue in the current direction, with a few flourishes thrown in to make it interesting (like the government putting a calming drug in the water supply to keep the populati...

I can't believe the ending - who would have guessed Harry is killed by defenestration while riding a bus with an open window?!
Note: I have yet to read a Harry Potter book or see a movie.

Re: Year Zero
I can't believe nobody else is interested in this. I've been reading about it non-stop for the past 4 or 5 days, while listening to the album constantly. It's incredibly detailed. I just can't get enough of it.
