Re: Hard Drive Password
We have software here called Secure Data Disposal. This and all the other data wipers do what there intended. Wipe the drive once you get past the hard drive (user and or master) / BIOS password. If anyone has been an admin for corporate laptops you know that hard drive passwords are a must, mostly ...

Re: Headaches in the Corn field
Using Xp with newer hardware (new SATA drives), you need to slipstream the hard drive drivers onto a new OS install disk. Or you can do the F6 boot fun, which never really works out...

OK, Been with JiF since 2002, and the only game I have played was PC BF42 bought in 2002 and then the expansions for PC. I know I need to get with the times. My kids are 5 and 8 now and the wife and I are thinking of a gaming console for the family, not just them. I know there is the Wii, Xbox, and ...

Re: formatting a laptop HD
Hello, The DBAN worked great for the IDE drive stuff. I have 6 SCSI drives that I would like to wipe also. Bad thing is I don't have SCSI on my PC. I do have @ my disposal, SCSI PCI cards with ribbon cables. I was seeing how to let the PC know that I have a scsi drive connected via PCI bus when I bo...

Re: Need a mirrored external solution
Thanks for the info Lini, Ok, so for the 3 PC's I have in the house, you suggest to get 2 different external enclosure systems? If so, what is the best way to have these "available and always on" when a user boots up there PC. I have an external harddrive @ work that sits cold and idle unt...

Re: Need a mirrored external solution
OK, I went from a solution found to confused. I basically just want to protect all my videos, photos, and "my documents". I want peace of mind that if a piece of hardware dies, that the other piece carries on until I can fix the broken part. I don't care about speed as much as price. Any t...

Re: Need a mirrored external solution
I guess the next thing I would need is a good USB hub as I will be tieing 3 systems to access this external solution.
Thoughts on a good USB hub. Or is any powered 2.0 USB hub good? Is there a better solution?
Thanks

Would like non-pay Anti Virus
Hello, I have used Symantec AV for years. I paid for each year and for each system. Back in 2005-2007 I was using Comcast's Free version of McAFee AV. This worked good until I switched to Verizon. I'm now in need of AV. I still have Comcast's McaFee on my systems, but does not grab the latest DAT fi...

Beej... Is it safe to say the drive is wiped?
Thanks
